One’s trash is another’s treasure. As I had announced on Instagram and Facebook, I took part in the first Blogger Bazaar in Munich last Saturday, October 19th, and it exceeded my expectations by far. The location, Stylight headquarter, was just perfect for the occasion. A big room with windows at the ceiling, which allowed a lot of natural light from the sunny day to come in and tables with clothing racks for each seller. I had a smaller spot in a corner, and was already concerned about how I was going to place all my items, since I had brought all items from my closet, that I didn’t wear anymore. It was a lot. Fortunately my neighbor, Mauricius (whoever you are, thank you!), didn’t come, so I got his table as well. With enough space for all my items, price tags provided by the Blogger Bazaar team and drinks from Red Bull and Jules Mumm, I couldn’t wait for the crowd to come in ! It was all about moneymaking and getting rid of the clothes that have been hanging around in my closet for years. Accessories and shoes I havn’t worn for a very long time, or never worn before. In the end I was able to sell 70% of the things I had brought at very very low prices. I still managed to make 700 something somehow even though I sold earrings and rings at 1€ and most of my clothes at 4-15€. You see, I had a lot of stuff to sell. Stuff of which I didn’t think that I’d be able to sell it. There is still some left, and I hope I can participate in the next blogger flea market again.

It’s a great opportunity for bloggers, to get to sell their clothes to a more fashion oriented crowd at blogger flea markets. Unlike a normal flea market, at a blogger flea market, the expected audience comes for the purpose of buying clothes. It is an a lot more categorized kind of flea market, than casual flea markets, where you can find anything from spoons to old CDs. So at a normal flea market you will find all kinds of people, from the ones looking for spoons to the ones looking for old CDs, as well. With a lot of clothes and accessories, you might not find the customers you want to attract.

I had a great time, and Iam so glad I didn’t go by myself. My cousin offered me to come with me and to help me. Without her I probably wouldn’t even have been able to go to the restrooms because it was so crowded ! From the opening to closing time. Some of my friends had to queue for two hours ! Which was just half as bad, because it was a sunny autumn day, and because they got drinks for free. The organizers of the event did a great job though, by keeping the people in a good mood, and making sure that it was never overcrowded inside.

Some PR people came up to me and exchanged business cards with me, and I really hope it will lead to more. Iam not a very well known blogger in Germany yet, but I wouldn’t mind getting there. I felt a little intimidated by the other bloggers at first, because I have been reading their blogs, but everyone was really nice. I met Fan-Ning from MUCstyle again, who I met at my last blogger event more than a year ago. She said that I look like I had lost weight, best compliment ever! Since I have lost weight. And I had Vicky from The Golden Bun right across my table, and Masha Segwick was right next to her. I couldn’t not look at them haha. It was all, very exciting, and very fun.
Thank you so much Blogger Bazaar team for this experience. After such an successful event, there must be a followup ! So everyone, go to the Facebook page of Blogger Bazaar, like it, and stay tuned for the next events !

Wedding Dress Shopping

photos by Phan Nhat Minh

Marriages sometimes aren’t so much of a big deal as weddings are. So many couples don’t care about working on their marriage and relationship, but for their wedding, they go to incredibly great extents. Especially for women, the wedding day is extremely important. When you think of a wedding, what do you think of ? Usually of a woman in a beautiful white gown, isn’t it ? Not of a man in a suit, right ? Because a wedding dress is a spectacle you don’t often get to see. A wedding dress is something special naturally connected with the word wedding, in our western society. Wearing a wedding dress is the closest a woman can get to being a princess, a lot of girls dream to be when they are young. Those little girls eventually realize that they might never be a princess, because they weren’t born into aristocratic families, but at least they can look like a princess, wearing a beautiful gown, on occasions like their wedding. Such occasions are treasured, and highly anticipated, for girls like me. Or should I say women ? I know some girls who don’t want to marry, have a beautiful wedding and wear a wedding gown, but iam not of that kind. I want all a lush wedding can offer. A white princess dress with a lot of tulle and lace, a dropdead gorgeous cake, a lot of flowers, and you know, just the whole package. Feeling like a princess who has it all, i love those moments.
By the way, I’m not going to get married anytime soon. The reason why you see me in a wedding dress is because I love everything wedding including wedding gowns ! My friend Fan Xia just opened a wedding gown shop in Munich a month ago, and invited me over to check out her shop. With my boyfriend as wedding photographer, and into wedding as well, we couldn’t say no. Her shop offers all the fashion a groom and a bride need. Suits, gowns, accessories, shoes, just everything. While the men’s section only covers the space at the front of the shop, the women’s section with the beautiful wedding gowns has a whole room at the back. Beautiful white dresses, wherever you look, with a table full of accessories and bling in the middle. Spacious dressing rooms with huge mirrors and seats for your girlfriends, offer all you need for trying on wedding dresses. The shop, White Silhouette, offers a selection of different designers, and dresses from her own brand Shiyafan. Fan Xia, fashion design graduate of Esmod, made it. She created a beautiful little heaven for all soon-to-be brides. I got a little foretaste of what is expecting me in the future, and got to try on one of the wedding dresses from her own collection. Iam glad she chose for me, because I was slightly overwhelmed by the choice of gowns. Every dress is simply beautiful. So if you are getting married anytime soon, and are still looking for a good shop to get your dress from, check out White Silhouette

Behind the scenes: Floralpunk Shooting

Photos by me

It’s been a while since I have started this online shop project. My shop is called Floralpunk, I named it after a shooting I had with a friend in Saigon last summer, because I felt like it would fit. There have been up and downs, and I havn’t gotten as far as I would like to be, but Iam still working hard on it. It is making a dream come true, step by step. You don’t become a superstar in a year either. My idol in this context is Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso, a beautiful young woman, who made Nasty Gal a big big business within only six years, thanks to hard work and social media. I hope I can expand Floralpunk and make it a successful business one day as well.

Here is a part from my About section : “Julia has a passion for beautiful girls. The strong ones and the fragile ones. She wants to provide great products for any kind of girl, who doesn’t restrict herself with close-mindedness, but accepts and lives with oxymorons. Who lives, and lets others live. For the ones who know that there is no light without dark.”

For my first shooting I chose Thuong. Because she is beautiful, cute, sexy and fierce at the same time. It was out of question to me to cast a model for the shooting, because I simply love working with real life girls with the special something. The kind of girls I want to provide accessories and clothes for. Who add personal charm to the whole thing.
Which makes it harder for the photographer, in this case, my friend Chris. He is a photography student and to me a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to photography. He loves fashion photography and usually wants to work with tall and skinny girls. Models. He helped me out nonetheless, and even I havn’t seen the results of the shooting yet. And I seriously can’t wait to see them, so Chris, if you read this, get in touch with me for f*cks sake haha. I totally trust him, but I still don’t know whether the photos turned out well. These photos are the ones mainly for this blog, so they don’t have anything to do with how the end result might look like, cos I took them. Anyway, you can check out Chris’s portfolio here: www.kainezeit.de

Photos from last week, a day after coming back from Venice. Whenever my boyfriend is in town I really want to show him the best of the city, but because I usually wake up really late, we never get to fully seize the day. Which I really hate and try to change. That day i woke up early for once, and decided to show him the “English Garden” one of the biggest parks in the world. Munich’s English Garden is even bigger than NYC’s Central Park btw. What I really regret sometimes is that I don’t spend as much time outdoors as I used to. Nowadays, even if I go out, it’s just to go shopping or for a dinner date. I don’t spend any time relaxing and enjoying nature anymore. That’s why that day day with my boyfriend was such a relief. No macbook, no ipad, just really yummy snacks and a beautiful park. Iam sure not all of you can relate to this feeling, because iam sure most of you have made full use of this summer, going swimming, spending time outdoors in the sun drinking beer with your mates surrounded by greens at least once a week. I guess iam too much of an internet geek these days, staying home being online, that’s why I consider one day in the park as so precious, even though it’s such a small matter actually. How about you ? When is the last time you did activities surrounded by nature ? If not anytime recently, maybe you should give it a try, before summer ends.

upcoming concerts in munich.

12. Februar 2011 – BOYS NOIZE (Kongresshalle )
Its been over a year since the last time (see here & here) i saw him live! November 2009, first Boys Noize concert, first date with my now best girl Yi, lost my first Blackberry after only three hours lol… there’s a first time for everything. Unforgettable memories. When Yi and me had decided to go together, over a year ago, we barely knew each other. And we didnt know anyone who liked Boys Noize. So we went together. Boys Noize was the first connecting point. This year there are a lot of other people to join us and im very much looking forward to what Mr. Ridha is going to offer us in 2 weeks ! Mark the date bitchez, its gonna be grand !
4. April 2011 – MIYAVI (Theaterfabrik)

Miyavi, Miyavi, Miyavi….. i used to love you so much. And do i still adore you. But we are not meant to be… Hahahahahaha. I swear i had such a major crush on him when i was in eighth grade, he was my god ! I daydreamed how i was going to meet him and all that kind of stuff. And i admit, he was awsome at that time. I havnt really caught up with his music yet but i still want to see him live on stage, at least once in my life ! And i hope he will play one of his older songs ! Dear Angelina, see you there ! Again im going with Yi. I dont know anybody else here who likes Miyavi lol. Yi and me are concert mates 8 )
6. April – LYKKE LI (Muffathalle)

Im not sure whether i will see her live or not. I want to, though. Her music touches my heart. Makes me tremble and want to burst out into ebulliency. I want to cry, laugh and dance, everything at the same time. My heart aches. Memories of the past come up. And i wonder… i wonder… and think… amd think.. and get lost in my own mind. my own thoughts. Her music inspires me. I want to listen to her singing. Who would go with me ?
I cant believe it, this post actually just took me three hours.
Another date to remember : ACIDKIDS at Crux on april 2nd !
